To call the cloud landscape complex is an understatement to say the least. But if you can navigate the complexity, the rewards can be bountiful.
The impact of Covid-19 has forced almost every customer-facing organisation to assess its IT strategy, from the infrastructure powering its back end, to the software at the front end, and the internal collaboration systems to keep remote teams in touch in between.
Enterprises are moving ahead on cloud projects at a faster speed than ever before. According to the 2021 Flexera State of the Cloud Report, more than three quarters of enterprises polled said they were using multiple public clouds as part of their strategy.
As a result, skilled cloud executives are in demand. Figures from executive search company Leadership Digital Group in July 2020 found queries for senior cloud executives in the digital realm were up 224% since March. If you are a certified architect across the major clouds – Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud – then expect a salary in six figures ($).
But filtering the signal from the noise is more difficult than ever. Amazon Web Services, for instance, has almost 250 services available to customers, either generally available or beta. How can you keep up?
